Operations Manager
The Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU; www.mbru.ac.ae) is part of the newly established Dubai Academic Health Corporation (DAHC). DAHC seeks to strengthen Dubai as a global leader in health care, medical education, research, and scientific innovation, to enhance the capabilities of Dubai’s healthcare sector.
DAHC manages and operates all Dubai public hospitals, primary healthcare centers, specialized care centers, Dubai Dental Hospital; Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital, MBRU and Al Jalila Research Foundation.
Biobank Operations at the Biobank facility within DAHC community is accepting applications from UAE Nationals for the position of Operations Manager – Biobank. This role is responsible for overseeing the Flawless operations of the sample processing lab and other Biobank operations. The holder is responsible for coordinating sample flow. He or she is responsible for maintaining high standards of quality in the Biobank operations.
The responsibilities include:
- Oversees implementation of routine protocols and SOPs in accordance with best practices.
- Ensure adherence to LIMS workflow and follow the high standards of GLP. Meet accreditation quality.
- Oversees the preparedness of Lab in carrying out daily activities.
- Conducts checks to adhere to Quality Management system.
- Liaises with researchers on requirements and complies.
- Responds to student requests for assistance in practical sessions and where appropriate with projects and equipment support, as requisite.
- Ensure sample processing is carried out appropriately or act instantaneously to handle processing to avoid sample loss.
- Supervises the quality, risk, infection control, testing standards, financials and materials controls for the laboratory and ensures continuous improvement in all areas of responsibility.
- Provides technical guidance to laboratory technologists whenever required.
- Ensures that stated safety policies, procedures and instructions are adhered to, and that the necessary records and checks are maintained at all times.
- Ensures seamless supply of laboratory equipment, lab consumables, reagents and kits. Seeks approvals from the reporting manager regarding purchasing requests.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Biobanking or Biological Sciences.
- A postgraduate Diploma or equivalent in Biobanking is preferable.
- Communication Skills.
- Laboratory Maintenance standards.
- Written and spoken English is essential, Arabic is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in managing and operating Biobanking units.
