Research Assistant – Bioinformatics
The Diabetes Research Group at Mohammed Bin Rashid University (MBRU) College of Medicine has an opening for a young IT graduate to participate in investigation of Type 2 Diabetes subtypes. We are looking for a highly motivated graduate with an experience in bioinformatics and analysis of human genomes. He/She will be working with science and medical staff at MBRU and Dubai Academic Health Corporation. Our group has a strong commitment to collaborative research, which combines clinical investigations with computational validation. Appointment is for one year, renewable for a second year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth analysis of human genome sequence data using cutting-edge bioinformatics tools and software.
- Collaborate with the research team to interpret and present findings.
- Assist in the development and implementation of data analysis pipelines.
- Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to research publications.
Qualifications and Experience:
- BSc in Information Technology, Bioinformatics or Computational biology.
- Master’s degree in bioinformatics [preferred].
- Strong programming skills (e.g., Python, R, Bash).
- Strong knowledge of bioinformatics tools, software, and databases.
- Knowledge of population genomics, GWAS, ACMG guidelines for variant annotation & classification.
- Strong knowledge of ML/AI tools for genomics.
- Familiarity with statistical analysis (SPSS, Graphpad) and data visualization techniques
- Novel algorithms and machine learning methods.
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities within a multidisciplinary team.
- Written and spoken English [Arabic preferred].
