Senior Laboratory Technologist
The Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU; www.mbru.ac.ae) is part of the newly established Dubai Academic Health Corporation (DAHC). DAHC seeks to strengthen Dubai as a global leader in healthcare, medical education, research, and scientific innovation, to enhance the capabilities of Dubai’s healthcare sector.
DAHC is managing and operating all Dubai public hospitals, primary healthcare centers, specialized care centers, Dubai Dental Hospital; Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital, MBRU and Al Jalila Research Foundation.
Biobank Operations at the Biobank facility within DAHC community is accepting applications from UAE Nationals for the position of Senior Laboratory Technologist. This role the holder is responsible for providing efficient laboratory services in the sample processing Lab. Also, the role is responsible for creating awareness of laboratory standard operating procedures, inculcating safety standards and demonstrating the same to trainees.
The responsibilities include:
- Demonstrate certain specialized methods and techniques to enable automation of sample processing.
- Carryout biological fluid sample processing, extraction of components, aliquoting and storing in robotic assisted Storage facility on a routine basis. Adhere to LIMS workflow and follow high standards of GLP. Meet accreditation quality.
- Responds to any queries related to the laboratory in a professional manner.
- Supports in conducting workshops, seminars, and conferences.
- Conduct literature survey to adopt newer Automation techniques in sample processing.
- Develop and standardize protocols based on newer SOPs.
- Possess tutoring qualities, assist and guide trainees during their training program.
- Provides support in conducting examinations and assessment programs, whenever required.
- Ensures that stated safety policies, procedures and instructions are adhered to, and that the necessary records and checks are maintained at all times. Conduct periodical inspection of relevant equipment and report, request for maintenance.
- Maintains inventory and owns responsibility for proper handling of laboratory equipment, lab consumables, reagents and kits, initiates material requests as necessary through the reporting manager.
- Undertake relevant tasks as and when assigned by department Head.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in any Life Sciences Discipline or equivalent from an accredited university
- Communication Skills.
- Expertise in handling high end Human sample processing equipment. Fluent in developing and adopting protocols.
- Familiar with Laboratory Standard Operating Procedures.
- Occupational Health and Safety Standards.
- Materials Management.
- Laboratory Maintenance standards.
- Written and spoken English is essential, Arabic is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years and above experience related to Human tissue sample handling and processing.
